What to do with all those empty car dealerships? Why, build a yoga studio, of course! — Autoblog
I guess all that open space could be used for virtually anything. There's a HUGE Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealership down the road from me that has been empty for over a year. Maybe I can make a an office for GTSOTR.
Meh, maybe ill just turn it into a giant lasertag battlefield instead.

The Physics Behind Auto Accidents

It's rare to hear me advocate driving more slowly, but this video illustrates the difference between going 60 and 65 kilometers and hour. It's life or death in many cases. Now think about the differences between driving 60 mph and 80 mph. Physics means you are far more likely to smash into something with deadly force.

Michael Schumacher the winningest driver ever in Formula One has signed a contract to return to racing with Mercedes in 2010. Not shocking news, he flirted with returning this past season to fill in for an injured driver.
It is a bit sad after driving all those years for Ferrari to have him return for Mercedes, but he's German so there is a link there.

Toyota's Reputation Needs Some TLC

Chris Woodyard from USA TODAY writes that Toyota lately has suffered through a run of bad press, much of it involving a consumer hot-button: vehicle safety.
The company that once could do no wrong has stumbled badly though a series of embarrassments of disclosures, allegations and recalls. Experts now are debating how deeply these will eat into the consumer trust that is Toyota's most potent asset — and what it must do to recover.
I'll take a stab at answering that: Build some compelling products. After the Prius, which is as much an image statement as a vehicle, the snooze factor is pretty high in Toyota's lineup.
And they have among the worst television ads of any car company. Really, really cheesy. They don't help assuage the ugliness of the recent recalls.

The next generation of Ford's SYNC-enabled vehicles will be rolling WiFi hotspots, ReadWriteWeb reports. Passengers will be able to connect to the Internet anywhere, anytime. The system will work like the newest portable routers like Sprint's MiFi, but will require additional hardware and network coverage. Still, very cool and something we can imagine using, just not while driving, of course.

LED traffic lights are popping up everywhere for many reasons: They last longer and use less energy. Great reasons. But as this AP story points out, they don't generate enough heat to melt snow, and in places with lots of sideways snow, can lead to accidents.
